These hydrophones are designed to be towed from a moving vessel and are used for the detection of seismic signals reflected from the bottom and sub-bottom strata. The streamers consists of individual hydrophone elements located within neutrally buoyant kerosene filled tubing. The tubing is specially designed to minimise turbulent noise through the water.
The 1510P uses ten AQ4 hydrophone elements evenly spaced in a 2.7 meter active section with a current summing amplifier located just forward of the active section.
These hydrophones are primarily used as the receiver for surface tow boomer or sparker sub-bottom profiling systems.
