The WLR7 has for many years been an industry standard. It is a rugged, self contained and high precision instrument that when placed on the seabed records pressure, temperature and salinity at regular intervals.
It calculates water level by means of precise measurement of hydrostatic pressure. The barometric pressure and density of water at the location must be taken into account when calculating actual water level.
